Cacao is an ancient fruit that has been grown by farmers in South America, Africa and other tropical regions for centuries. They are the pods whose seeds are used to make chocolate. But until now, most people haven’t had the full cacao experience because after the seeds are used, most of the remaining fruit is discarded.
Rescuing this Wonderfruit is important because cacao contains many nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron and fiber; and its husk, pulp and butter have unique tastes and textures that can be transformed into unique snacks.
CaPao worked with a team of Michelin-starred chefs and nutritionists to create Smoothie Balls and Fruit Jerky Strips using the delicious juice from cacaofruit pulp, with added goodies like nuts and seeds. They contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, and are vegan friendly, gluten free and non-GMO. And, because we believe mindful snacking is about both personal and planetary well-being, we are not only combatting food waste, all of our products are wind powered and our packaging is fully recyclable.
