The cacao-fruit is grown in the tropical regions of the world. While those who live or visit there may have enjoyed it, most people haven’t had the full experience because only a sliver of the cacao-fruit makes its way into our lives in the form of cocoa and chocolate.
UNIQUE TASTE & TEXTURE
The complexity of the cacao-fruit lends itself to culinary discovery and exploration. We’ve started by using the naturally sweet and zesty pulp to create delicious plant-powered snacks and can’t wait to use other parts of the fruit to create a portfolio of unique products.
Cacao-fruit contains important minerals such as magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, fiber, many essential B vitamins and is also full of antioxidants and polyphenols. We want to unlock these benefits and this will be an important and exciting part of our journey.

Meet the TEAM
Hello, we’re the CaPao founders. We’re a small but mighty and highly passionate team within SnackFutures innovation and venture hub, created by Mondelez International, a world leader in snacking.
Our mission is to create snacks that are good for people, kind to the planet and deliciously fun. When we discovered that most of the cacao-fruit is often used for non-food purposes or simply wasted, we became obsessed with how we could unlock its full potential and create a unique snacking experience.
We studied its heritage all the way back to when Mayans used the cacao beans for currency. We learned about its powerful nutrition profile. And when we tasted it, wow, we fell head over heels in love with it.
Our obsession turned into an opportunity. With the introduction of CaPao, we are on our way to create cacao-fruit snacks that do justice to the fruit.
