WE'RE RESCUING AND RE-IMAGINING THE CACAO-FRUIT

Europeans have been importing the seeds of the cacao-fruit since the 1500s; transforming them into chocolate. But the seeds are just a 1/4 of the fruit – the rest is underutilized or simply wasted. That’s wasted deliciousness, wasted nutrition and wasted opportunity for farming communities to thrive and prosper. We’ve made it our mission to do something about it.

MILLIONS OF TONS OF CACAO-FRUIT ARE WASTED

Every year, farmers around the globe harvest 14 million tons* of cacao fruit, but millions of tons are wasted. This is because it’s only the cacao seeds (about 25% of the fruit) that get made into chocolate. About 75% of the fruit is often underutilized or simply wasted.

Our Packaging Ambitions

The cacao-fruit does more than deliver great taste and important nutrition. Because a key foundation of our mission is to be kind to the planet, we will be exploring options like leveraging unused parts of the fruit (such as the husk in the shell) in our packaging and using recyclable transparent papers, to ensure what is on the outside of our CaPao products is treated with as much care as the inside.
